Legalize cannabis federally

To: Sen. Stabenow, Rep. Kildee, Sen. Peters, Pres. Biden

I am writing in response to classifying cannabis as a schedule 3 drug. This is definitely a step in the right direction. However, I don’t see the issues of cannabis being addressed with this change. I live in a state that cannabis is legal for medical and recreational use. Changing the schedule does not help in my state. Many employers drug test as a condition of employment. Schedule 3 drugs can still be tested for on these tests. Obviously I am not saying that people should be able to work under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but with legalization at a federal level, cannabis would be treated the same as alcohol. Schedule 3 does not stop the incarceration of cannabis users or give them the right to use the substance without the threat of losing their jobs. Legalizing cannabis is overwhelmingly popular across the political spectrum when is comes to voters. Why waste time with this half step towards a solution? Legalize it federally and move on to other issues.
