I am writing as your constituent to urge your immediate action on two pressing matters. First, I demand the immediate release of Dr. Rubeliz Bolivar and Dr. Ezequiel Veliz. These physicians were serving underserved communities — exactly the kind of work we should be protecting, not punishing. I also urge you to support a national-interest exemption for medical professionals working in medically underserved areas, so that communities dependent on their care are not left without doctors. Second, I urge you to stand up for due process. Tens of thousands of immigrants with legal status are being detained without criminal charges. This is not consistent with American law or American values. Every person in this country — regardless of immigration status — is entitled to due process under the Constitution. I expect you to say so clearly and to act accordingly. These are not partisan issues. They are matters of basic fairness and the rule of law.
