I strongly urge you to oppose H.R. 6090. This bill will do nothing to protect Jewish Americans, but it will do everything to diminish free speech, encourage violence, and support genocide. Israel's far-right government is not representative of all Jews. Many, many Jews have been protesting that government and our government in recent weeks. Criticizing a government is not the same thing as being antisemitic, and federal law already prohibits antisemitic discrimination and harassment. I urge you to fight this bill. HR 6090 does nothing to actually combat antisemitism. But it does lead our country down a dangerous path, one that restricts free speech and supports a violent, far-right regime that's already killed thousands of children.
