Israel's militarization of Gaza cancer hospital violates humanitarian law

To: Pres. Biden, Rep. Courtney, Sen. Blumenthal, Sen. Murphy

From: A constituent in East Hampton, CT

May 5

The Israeli military has taken over Gaza's only specialized cancer hospital, turning it into a de facto military base. Satellite imagery confirms armored vehicles and fortifications have been built within the compound of the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital. This unacceptable violation has rendered the hospital non-operational, depriving thousands of cancer patients of vital treatment. Such actions constitute grave breaches of international humanitarian law. An immediate ceasefire is urgently needed to prevent further escalation and allow humanitarian access. Funding and military support enabling these abuses must cease, and funds should instead be directed to UNRWA to support Palestinian refugees. The world cannot stand by as Israel tramples on human rights and humanitarian norms. markazsahaba.com/2024/04/23/israel-turns-cancer-hospital-into-military-base/
