The Equal Rights Amendment, first proposed nearly a century ago, has languished for too long. Equality under the law for all Americans is a fundamental tenet of our democracy that should no longer be denied. I implore you to take decisive action by directing the Archivist of the United States to publish the 28th Amendment, recognizing the Equal Rights Amendment as part of the Constitution. This would enshrine gender equality as the bedrock principle it should be, finally making clear that all people must be treated equally regardless of sex. Too many women and girls still face discrimination, unequal pay, and diminished opportunities. Certifying the ERA is a moral and legal imperative to fulfill the promise of liberty and justice for all. The time is now to make this long-overdue reform a reality.
