To: Rep. Kiley, Sen. Schiff, Sen. Padilla

From: A constituent in Roseville, CA

October 23

Don’t sacrifice the ACA tax credits to end the government shutdown. Millions of Americans rely on the ACA tax credits to make health insurance affordable. Choosing to not renew the credits is tantamount to neglect of your constituency. Healthcare is essential to living a healthy, fulfilling life. It’s not optional, and yet, without the tax credits, many will have to choose between health insurance and other necessities such as food and housing due to healthcare premiums DOUBLING. I will likely be one of those people. I turn 26 in March next year and will lose access to my parent’s health insurance. This year, 2025, my expected premium would be about $500 a month. Next year, without the ACA tax credits, I expect it to be close to $1000 a month. For basic health insurance. I can’t afford that. My parent’s costs will also be going up, so they won’t be able to cover what I can’t pay. Please renew the ACA tax credits. Don’t abandon the needs of your constituency just so you can end the government shutdown.
