The United States Postal Service (USPS) is a crucial public service that millions of Americans rely on, especially in rural areas and for delivering life-saving medications. Privatizing it would undermine this vital infrastructure and hand over operations to profit-driven corporations at the expense of affordable, reliable mail delivery nationwide. The Postal Service's financial issues stem largely from an unreasonable 2006 law forcing pre-funding of future retiree benefits, not an inherent flaw in its operations. Privatization risks disrupting universal service, raising costs, and leaving many communities behind. For the good of all Americans, the USPS must remain a public service prioritizing people over profits. That is why moves toward privatization must be firmly resisted.
