Reject House Bill 93, threat to public education quality
To: Sen. Nichols, Gov. Little
From: A constituent in Nampa, ID
February 5
House Bill 93 is a harmful piece of legislation that threatens to undermine the quality of education in our state. While the intention of providing school choice may seem noble, the reality is that this bill will divert crucial funding away from our public schools and into the hands of unaccountable private institutions. The bill's vague accreditation requirements and lack of oversight could lead to a proliferation of substandard educational providers, jeopardizing the futures of our children. Additionally, the prioritization of tax credits based on income levels is a form of discrimination that goes against the principles of equal opportunity. Rather than funneling taxpayer money into a flawed voucher program, we should be investing in strengthening our public education system. Our public schools are the backbone of our communities, providing a high-quality education to all children, regardless of their socioeconomic status. I urge you to reject House Bill 93 and instead focus on initiatives that genuinely improve educational outcomes for all students in our state. Our children deserve better than this misguided attempt at school choice.
