I am a King County constituent and I am concerned about the 30 insurrectionists who have been released into the population of Washington state. Recently, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker blocked January 6 rioters from obtaining state jobs after Trump’s pardons. I am urging the state of Washington to pass similar legislation. We need to prevent these dangerous individuals from infiltrating our institutions where they can continue to harm others. Some of these people like Ethan Nordean of Auburn, are leaders of the Proud Boys. Now released into the public, and pardoned by the president, they will be emboldened to harass, and terrify marginalized individuals in our communities. Prior to Jan 6, Nordean was notorious for showing up to Pride events in Seattle and Portland, Oregon to harass attendees. People like Nordean should be in prison, but if we can’t have that, we need to find other ways to protect the public from him and the dozens of other criminals Donald Trump released into our state. The only way we can combat authoritarianism is with a unified, preventative response at the state and local levels. We are counting on you, the leaders of the great state of Washington to uphold democracy and protect your constituents.
