Don’t allow recess appointments
To: Sen. King, Sen. Collins
From: A verified voter in Ellsworth, ME
January 11
President Trump is attempting to circumvent the constitutionally-mandated Senate advice and consent process by making recess appointments while the Senate is holding pro-forma sessions specifically to block such appointments. Allowing these appointments would undermine the system of checks and balances and enable the President to pack the government with unvetted, unqualified individuals who lack Senate approval. I urge you to take action to prevent these unconstitutional recess appointments from being made. The Senate must uphold its Constitutional duty of providing advice and consent on senior government nominations.
