I understand that Senate Democrats have struck a deal with the Republicans to abandon pursuit of four appellate judicial nominations, leaving the positions open for the next administration to fill. The deal was apparently struck to enable faster confirmation of a number of other appointments and covers New Jersey, North Carolina, Tennessee and Maine.
We know that our democracy is at risk and that the incoming administration will choose extremist judges as they have previously. Given that, I ask that you either push through the nominations or, if the votes are not there for, to quickly identify those who can be confirmed.
We cannot risk a single judicial seat being left for the next administration to fill, and especially in the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, which covers NJ, PA and DE where the balance of power will shift in favor of conservative judges.
