Deporting US citizens convicted of crimes is illegal

To: Rep. Hamadeh, Sen. Kelly, Sen. Gallego

From: A verified voter in Phoenix, AZ

February 5

President Trump has mused about sending US citizens convicted of crimes to other countries for incarceration. Marco Rubio has also floated the idea after his South American tour that countries may be willing to incarcerate US Citizens convicted of crimes for a price. Our constitution does not allow for deportation as a punishment for criminal infractions. The Trump II Administration has shown its willingness to violate both laws and the constitution to force lawsuits to pursue the necessary and constitutional remedies required for both citizens and residents to achieve Justice after their unlawful actions. Act now to ensure that U.S. citizens retain their lawful rights to live in our territory as they pursue their right to appeal and engage with the criminal justice system in the country in which they hold citizenship. A president is not a king.
