BREAKING: INFURIATING! The Trump admin has been busted LYING about not being able to use emergency funds to make sure American kids don’t starve! Trump’s USDA has just posted a notice to its website informing the public that they will NOT be tapping into the roughly $5 billion in contingency funds to keep the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, with enough money to keep buying food for hungry Americans. One in eight Americans use the program to feed themselves and their families. The Trump team argues that “contingency funds are not legally available to cover regular benefits,” but that’s a LIE. This contradicts the USDA’s own stated plan for the shutdown, which was set months ago. The OMB’s General Counsel provided a letter to USDA on May 23, 2025 stating that “there is a bona fide need to obligate benefits for October—the first month of the fiscal year—during or prior to the month of September, thereby guaranteeing that benefit funds are available for program operations even in the event of a government shutdown at the beginning of a fiscal year.” Translation: The Trump administration just doesn’t want to spend money making sure that hungry American kids have enough to eat. They’re too busy spending hundreds of millions of dollars on a BALL ROOM for Trump to get bribed in by crooked billionaires. It's a big club, and we ain't in it.
