Republican rhetoric against Libraries is harming our society.

Disturbing incidents of book burning driven by bigotry are occurring, threatening the foundations of our free society. The reported case of an individual deliberately checking out and torching library books on topics like Jewish, African American, and LGBTQ histories is deeply alarming. This act of hate does not align with American values of tolerance, intellectual freedom, and respect for diversity. Libraries serve as pillars of knowledge and enlightenment, promoting understanding across all communities. We cannot allow narrow-minded ideologies fueled by misinformation and partisan rhetoric to erode our shared democratic principles. Decisive action is needed to denounce these reprehensible acts, safeguard our libraries, and foster an environment where all perspectives can be explored without fear or censorship. A strong commitment to protecting our intellectual and cultural institutions is vital to upholding the liberties we cherish.
