The Department of Education plays a vital role in safeguarding the educational rights and opportunities for millions of students across the nation. Eliminating this agency would severely undermine public education, strip away crucial support for students with disabilities, and erode enforcement of civil rights protections in educational settings. Slashing federal funding for public schools and abolishing student loan programs would disproportionately harm underprivileged communities and make quality education inaccessible to many. Education is a fundamental right, not a privilege reserved for the wealthy few. I urge you to vehemently oppose any attempts, be it through legislation like H.R. 899 or executive actions, to dismantle the Department of Education. Our children's futures and the strength of our nation's education system hang in the balance.
