Trump's ongoing and brazen power grab is shameful, and your silence in the face of it is embarrassing. Trump has handed the federal government's purse to a foreign national with so many conflicts of interest, it's almost impossible to keep track. Most impo rtantly, Musk is not an elected official, and neither are his college-age lackeys. You and your GOP colleagues claim to care so intensely about the rule of law, and yet you have nothing to say about Trump and his cronies wrecking the go vernment, purging people who try to force him to face consequences, and wiping his boots on the Constitution. What about his actions is acceptable to you? What about this behavior seems ethical, moral, or legal to you? We are watching, in real time, our nation be dismantled by the President himself, and your silence is complicity. Whatever you hope to gain by continuing to kiss the ring, you will not get. By standing up for what is right, you may lose his favor, but you'll gain the respect of actual law-abiding Americans and retain whatever remains of your integrity. It's well past time to stop pretending you're surprised by any of this, or that you think he can be restrained by laws and norms and social mores. He can not, and he will not. Find your backbone and do your job: uphold the Constitution and serve the best interests of your constituents. Handing the keys to the kingdom to an unel ected foreign citizen and his barely-adult lackeys is not serving either of those purposes.
