How NJ Democrats lost the support of their most committed constituents

To: Sen. Kim, Rep. Norcross, Sen. Booker

From: A constituent in Pitman, NJ

December 14

I will never forgive or forget the betrayal , hypocrisy, and lack of understanding that Sen. Booker and Representative Norcross have perpetrated on their own constituents by voting to ban TikTok. There is no national security threat that is not far worse on Meta platforms, X, or any other social app. You are not protecting us or our interests by supporting this ban. You’ve violated the first amendment and if this goes through it will destroy many businesses and sources of income (since that’s all you seem to care about.) I’m deeply disappointed by my democratic representatives betrayal of the Constitutional right of their own constituents. I’ve been a true blue democratic voter my entire life and the last few years have truly exposed democratic representatives as clueless, out of touch, uneducated, untrustworthy, and generally bad at their jobs. I’ve contacted Cory Bookers office DOZENS of times in seven years. At least Norcross responds with boilerplate. You haven’t prevented a complete Republican takeover of our government, you aren’t protecting us, and you’ve committed a grave injustice against the entire American population by voting to ban our access to a vital social media platform. You’ve lost my allegiance, and the time and money I’ve spent supporting your party. I’m quite sure I will not be the only one. How are we to trust that you two will do anything to protect us in the upcoming administration? You’ve committed a grave injustice against your own people, and I think history will show this ban as a harbinger of a dark age for free speech and human rights.
