Elon Musk demands a government shutdown, while not being privy to the full bill, its contents, or even aware of how the government functions. As a private citizen without public office or security clearance, his ultimatums disregard the will of the electorate. We must not enable billionaires to wield such outsized influence over vital functions of government. Our representatives have a duty to uphold the integrity of our institutions and resist such unreasonable demands from the unelected wealthy elite. Protecting democratic principles should be the paramount priority.
