I am writing today in support of TikTok. It is my belief that the law passed within the infrastructure bill was an egregious error. Despite what Republicans are saying, this bill was not debated and therefore could not have bipartisan support. The app gives 24 billion dollars to the GDP every year. There are 7 billion small businesses. These small business owners are constituents who are not happy with this platform being taken away. Additionally, there has been no proof that TikTok participated in, or in any other way was responsible for election interference in any election in the US. There has also been no proof of any national security threat. Any app can be a national security threat in the wrong hands. But where is your proof about TikTok? TikTok USA is headquarters in Santa Monica California. It has been in California since 2017. US data is stored in Texas and Virginia by the founder of Oracle. Thousands of Americans work for TikTok. Not only will creators lose their jobs, but so will the employees of the app itself. I know new technology can be scary. The radio didn't like newspaper. Newspaper didn't like tv. And now Congress doesn't like TikTok. New things are scary. Without evidence presented showing election interference and or national security concerns, this was essentially a bill of attainder. Whatever happened to the presumption of innocence?
