Reject Matt Gaetz for AG
To: Sen. Lee, Sen. Romney
From: A constituent in Syracuse, UT
November 17
It is deeply concerning that Matt Gaetz, who was previously under investigation for sex trafficking charges involving minors, has been nominated as Attorney General. Putting someone with such serious allegations of sexual misconduct and potential criminal activity in charge of the nation's top law enforcement agency would undermine the integrity of the Justice Department and the rule of law. This nomination calls into question the incoming administration's commitment to upholding ethical standards and prosecuting criminal behavior without prejudice. Even though the federal investigation into Gaetz was closed without charges, the mere fact that such grave allegations existed should disqualify him from this crucial role overseeing the enforcement of laws he may have violated. The Attorney General must be an individual of unimpeachable character who can be trusted to pursue justice impartially and without conflicts of interest or ulterior motives. Gaetz's clouded history and reputation for unethical conduct make him singularly unfit for this position of power. I urge you to oppose his nomination and insist on a nominee whose background and principles are beyond reproach. Preserving faith in our institutions of law and order requires appointing leadership that prioritizes the fair administration of justice over partisan politics or personal self-interest.
