The rise of domestic terrorism and hate groups poses a grave threat to our nation's security and democracy. Like the Ku Klux Klan during Reconstruction, these groups employ intimidation, violence, and insurrectionist rhetoric to undermine our institutions and target minorities and dissenting voices. We cannot allow this dangerous extremism to fester unchecked. Decisive action is needed to classify hate groups as terrorist organizations and place them under heightened scrutiny from law enforcement. Their activities of spreading disinformation, making threats, and inciting violence must be vigorously prosecuted under anti-terrorism statutes. Failure to confront this menace risks enabling further radicalization and emboldening these forces to escalate their assaults on our democratic values. We have witnessed the deadly consequences of ignoring such threats in the past. Protecting our citizens and preserving our democratic order requires treating hate groups with the utmost vigilance and bringing the full force of the law against their destructive agenda.
