Restore rights of wrongfully deported Maryland resident Abrego Garcia
To: Rep. Mills, Sen. Moody, Sen. Scott
From: A constituent in New Smyrna Beach, FL
April 16
It is deeply concerning that Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, a Maryland man who had legally been allowed to remain in the United States, was mistakenly deported to El Salvador against a judge's order. This represents a violation of his due process rights and a failure by the government to follow proper procedures. Abrego Garcia poses no threat to public safety, and the claim that he is a member of MS-13 appears to be unsubstantiated. Deporting him to the notoriously dangerous Salvadoran prison CECOT, where his life is at risk, is an inhumane and potentially illegal act. As his elected representatives, you have a duty to ensure the executive branch abides by court orders and respects civil liberties. I urge you to take immediate action to secure Abrego Garcia's safe return to the United States and allow his immigration case to properly proceed through the legal system. Restoring his rights and holding the government accountable for this injustice is critical to upholding the rule of law.
