Protect government data and institutions from private overreach
To: Sen. Murray, Sen. Cantwell
From: A constituent in Vancouver, WA
February 5
The recent events concerning Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) gaining unfettered access to sensitive data systems at the Treasury Department are alarming. This appears to be an unconstitutional overreach that threatens the privacy and wellbeing of millions of Americans whose personal information could be compromised. Senate oversight and intervention are urgently needed. There must be transparency about DOGE's plans and purposes before allowing any further erosion of government institutions that provide vital services to the public. Unilateral executive actions granting a private entity like DOGE control over agencies like Social Security and Medicare are unacceptable without proper vetting, debate and public input. A strong rebuke and stalling of remaining cabinet confirmations is a reasonable course of action. Leverage procedural measures to slow the process and force disclosure of DOGE's agenda. Vote no on all nominees until satisfactory accountability measures are implemented to rein in this apparent ethics breach and safeguard government operations from further private disruption without public consent. Constituents demand their elected representatives take a stand to uphold democratic norms.
