Human Rights Watch states that Israel is committing crimes against humanity

To: Sen. Murphy, Sen. Blumenthal, Rep. Courtney, Pres. Biden

From: A verified voter in Marlborough, CT

November 15

The Human Rights Watch report provides compelling evidence of forced displacement of Palestinians in Gaza by Israel authorities, which it describes as amounting to war crimes and crimes against humanity. The systematic destruction of civilian infrastructure, agricultural lands, and educational institutions portrays a disturbing picture of a population being deliberately uprooted and deprived of basic rights and necessities. Given the gravity of these findings from a respected human rights organization, urgent action is needed to address and halt these egregious violations of international law. Israel's claims of lawful evacuation for security reasons are undermined by the report's documentation of failures to protect civilians during displacement and in designated safe zones. This systematic oppression and forced displacement of an entire population cannot be allowed to continue with impunity. I urge you to take immediate steps to ensure accountability and justice for the Palestinian people suffering under Israel's genocide in Gaza. Upholding human rights and international law must be a paramount priority. www.hrw.org/report/2024/11/14/hopeless-starving-and-besieged/israels-forced-displacement-palestinians-gaza I demand you do everything in your power to: – Hold Israel accountable to a permanent, immediate ceasefire and for their repeat violations of international law – Call for the immediate end of Israel’s occupation and apartheid - Support Palestinians in their fight for freedom and peace – Secure the immediate release and safety of all hostages, including Palestinians held by Israel in "military prisons", including those whose indefinite detention began prior to 10/7/24 – Permanently end all monetary, diplomatic, and military aid given to Israel and enforce U.S. laws like Leahy Law and the Arms Export Control Act – Resume full funding of UNRWA and allocate more funds to aid Gaza humanitarian efforts – Immediately withdraw all U.S. troops, military assets, and all other assets deployed throughout the Middle East and cease all actions that further escalate a larger regional conflict - Void all anti-BDS laws and other laws that infringe on my right to freedom of speech to criticize any political ideology or country, and to use my money in ways that align with my values
