Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas.
Russia released political hostages after a lengthy cooperative, dedicated effort by multiple countries and countless negotiations. A truly world-wide humanitarian effort.
That did not, however, stop Republican VP candidate J.D. Vance from claiming that Trump deserved credit for the swap despite Trump’s insistence that WSJ reporter Gershkovich would be released only after Trump was reelected.
Geez. This is sycophancy at a whole new level.
For his part, Trump didn’t express any joy at all in the deal, simply claiming that Biden got fleeced and saying “[o]ur ‘negotiators’ are always an embarrassment to us!”
And from the Department of Poor Timing, MAGA representative Nancy Mace of South Carolina tweeted the same morning: “Biden is MIA. Why is no one talking about it?”
Whoops.
At yesterday’s White House announcement, a reporter noted that former president Trump “has said repeatedly that he could have gotten the hostages out without giving anything in exchange,” and asked President Biden: “What do you say to that?”
“Why didn’t he do it when he was president?” Biden answered.
How could a country like America ever ever ever want a president who responds to such a powerful event with such aggrieved, insulting, and petty remarks like Mr. Trump’s? It’s a disgrace. An embarrassment. And should tell you all you need to know about such a candidate.
But you already know all that. And much more. And you’ve swallowed and accepted it all.
This is why there’s such enthusiasm for Kamala Harris. We the people are sick of the pettiness. The insults to our country. The pointless anger. The division. Everything that MAGA world stands for. We don’t like it. We don’t want it. We won’t have it.
We want joy. Optimism. Hope for our country’s future. Your party currently offers absolutely none of that.
Example…given a choice between a root canal or a piece of cherry pie, which would you choose?
Exactly.
