Deportations devastating for our economy

To: Rep. Ross, Sen. Budd, Sen. Tillis

From: A verified voter in Raleigh, NC

November 18

I am writing to you today as an American citizen deeply concerned about the incoming administration's plans for mass deportations of immigrants. This cruel and misguided policy runs counter to everything we stand for as a nation - compassion, justice, and the fundamental human right to dignity and safety for all. To deport hardworking individuals who have built lives and families here, often over multiple generations, would be a tragic violation of human rights and an affront to our values as a free society. It would needlessly tear apart communities and inflict immense suffering on innocent people, including American citizens, simply because of their immigration status. The moral and ethical case against these deportations is clear. But beyond the humanitarian imperative, such policies would also be devastating for our economy and social fabric. Removing millions of productive workers and taxpayers would cripple industries, shrink our workforce, and drain resources from schools, hospitals and public services. The damage would be felt by everyone. I urge you to take a firm stance against the incoming president's deportation plans by denying them any funding and blocking executive actions to carry them out. Congress has the power and responsibility to protect the vulnerable and uphold our highest ideals. Failure to do so would make us complicit in a stain on America's legacy that we would never live down. Please reconsider this path and find a better way forward that respects all people and unifies our nation. I look forward to your leadership in this critical moment. Thank you for your time and consideration.
