Defend comprehensive women's healthcare and reproductive rights
To: Rep. Schrier

House Resolution 7, introduced by Representative Andy Biggs and co-sponsored by Representative Clay Higgins, fails to provide comprehensive and inclusive healthcare for women. The resolution prioritizes the agenda of "Pro Women's Healthcare Centers", which are pro-life organizations that actively oppose abortion access. Denying women the right to make informed decisions about their own bodies and reproductive health is a violation of their autonomy and goes against the principles of comprehensive healthcare. Restricting access to safe and legal abortion services not only puts women's lives at risk but also undermines their mental and emotional well-being. Comprehensive healthcare should encompass a wide range of services, including but not limited to reproductive care, mental health support, and preventative measures. By aligning with pro-life centers, this resolution effectively excludes a crucial aspect of women's healthcare, compromising their overall health and well-being. Furthermore, the resolution's claim that women's healthcare should address the needs of men, families, and communities is concerning. Women's healthcare should primarily focus on the specific needs of women without being influenced by external factors or ideologies. Prioritizing the concerns of others over a woman's right to make informed decisions about her own body is a disservice to the principles of bodily autonomy and self-determination. This resolution fails to prioritize the comprehensive healthcare needs of women and instead promotes a narrow and ideologically driven agenda. True women's healthcare should be inclusive, evidence-based, and centered on empowering women to make informed choices about their bodies and their lives. Denying access to essential services like abortion care is a step backwards in the fight for gender equality and reproductive justice.
