Honor President Carter- Publish the ERA
To: Pres. Biden
From: A verified voter in Arlington, VA
January 9
Today's eulogy reminded us all of President Carter's legacy of support for women's rights and the Equal Rights Amendment. Will your legacy be as strong? I am writing to urge you to take your place in history and honor the memory of President Carter by ordering the Archivist to complete her legally required duty to certify receipt of notice of Virginia's ratification, and to subsequently publish the ERA. No Archivist in history has ever taken it upon themselves to simply refuse to acknowledge a fully ratified Amendment. And in fact allowing it sets a dangerous precedent that the Executive Branch will be allowed to second-guess laws they don't agree with going forward. If a Court question is open, let it be resolved after publication like every other law, not before. We only have a few days left- please, do the right thing for the women of the country, and for your own legacy. Publish the 28th Amendment. Thank you.
