Immediate Action Required: End U.S. Support for Israeli Atrocities

To: Sen. Schumer, Rep. D'Esposito, Sen. Gillibrand, Pres. Biden

From: A verified voter in Lynbrook, NY

July 29, 2024

I write to you today with a profound sense of shock, condemnation, and disgust regarding the recent invitation extended to Benjamin Netanyahu to address Congress. This invitation is an affront to all moral and ethical standards, given that Netanyahu is a war criminal with pending International Criminal Court arrest warrants. It is an appalling decision that brings shame upon our nation and its values. It is unacceptable to allow the failed occupying state of Israel to drag the United States down with it. The continued diplomatic ties with Israel, amidst its ongoing atrocities, are a stain on our nation's conscience. The U.S. government and its politicians must immediately end all diplomatic relations with Israel, implement a permanent ceasefire, and enforce sanctions and an arms embargo against this rogue state. To continue funding what can only be described as a Palestinian Holocaust is to surpass any bounds of morality. Israel must be stopped, and it is incumbent upon our elected officials to take decisive action. If the Democratic Party and its elected officials wish to beat Donald Trump in the upcoming election and secure our votes, this is the only path forward. There will be no peace or comfort in this country until there is a significant policy change towards Israel, leading to a free Palestine and the dismantling of the Israeli system of apartheid. If our elected officials fail to regain their humanity and moral integrity—values they so often preach as fundamental to our nation—then it will fall upon the people to collectively demand an end to this Holocaust. The anger among the people is only growing, and with the Free Palestine movement now in the mainstream, our patience is wearing thin. It is both dangerous and disgusting for Vice President Harris and other Democrats, who should know the historical significance of civil disobedience and riots in achieving civil liberties in this country, to propagate vile Israeli propaganda condemning the DC protests against genocide. Equating protesters with antisemitism is not only a gross mischaracterization but a betrayal of the very principles of justice and freedom. It is rich indeed for these officials to be flustered over flag burning protected by the First Amendment and graffiti that was washed away the next day, while ignoring the slaughter of innocents. Their condemnation only serves to highlight their complicity in the face of Israeli Zionist extremists who are currently breaking into prisons and government buildings to defend the ten detained Israeli soldiers accused of raping a Palestinian prisoner. The message is clear: Stop the Palestinian Holocaust or we, the people, will force you to stop. This is a non-negotiable demand for justice, humanity, and the fundamental rights of all people. The time for half-measures and equivocation is over. The people are watching, and our resolve is unwavering.
