Introduce Articles of Impeachment

To: Sen. Schumer, Rep. Suozzi, Sen. Gillibrand

From: A verified voter in Hicksville, NY

February 5

I urge you to initiate impeachment hearings against President Trump for abusing his office, undermining constitutional checks and balances, and using his position for personal gain. First, his actions consolidate power in the Executive Branch at the expense of Congress and the Judiciary. On his first day, he revoked Biden-era executive orders, many in defiance of constitutional law. By freezing federal financial assistance, he violated Article I. His directive on birthright citizenship challenges the 14th Amendment, and his orders dismantling DEI initiatives infringe on the 1st Amendment. After legal pushback, he selectively cut funding for environmental, transgender health, and structural bias programs, continuing to defy Congress’s Power of the Purse. He has also mandated “patriotic” education while banning “woke” curricula, threatening to withhold federal funding from schools—another clear 1st Amendment violation. Redefining “sex” to erase “gender” contradicts the Supreme Court’s ruling in Bostock v. Clayton County, which explicitly includes gender identity and sexual orientation. Second, Trump’s conduct is unfit for office. He openly declared he’d be a dictator on day one and exploits division to push orders undermining Congress and the Judiciary. He has claimed presidential immunity, pardoned January 6 attackers, and attempted to expand immunity to the period between election and inauguration. He fired large numbers of federal employees, knowing legal challenges may not reverse all removals, further expanding his power. His flood of unlawful orders overloads the system, allowing unchecked expansions of authority. His foreign policy endangers lives and diplomatic relations. He has withheld foreign aid, harming global health by withdrawing from the World Health Organization. His deportation of migrants to Colombia and tariff threats damage U.S. foreign relations. Third, Trump has used the presidency for personal gain. In his first term, he amassed over 3,700 conflicts of interest, failed to sever financial ties, and hired donors and loyalists while purging career officials. He admitted to accepting foreign money, violating the Foreign Emoluments Clause. His wife launched a cryptocurrency on the eve of his inauguration, and he constantly manipulates the press to keep himself in headlines. As a convicted felon, his election shielded him from legal consequences, and he has even suggested immunity should extend post-election. Trump’s deliberate chaos serves his personal interests and erodes democratic institutions. I urge your support for impeachment proceedings and consideration of eliminating presidential immunity.
