The American government's continued military support for Israel's occupation and assault against Palestinians undermines any meaningful commitment to peace and human rights. The bombing of civilians and destruction of homes and infrastructure in Gaza is unacceptable and perpetuates a cycle of violence. A cessation of arms transfers enabling these atrocities is imperative for deescalating the conflict. As voters and constituents, we insist on the inclusion of language in the party platform that unequivocally supports a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and an immediate halt to supplying weapons used in Israel's assault and occupation of Palestinian territories. Concrete steps toward an arms embargo and ceasefire are urgently needed to advance a just resolution. The humanitarian crisis and loss of innocent lives demands action rooted in human rights and diplomacy, not further militarization.
