Repeal Section 325 of the Patriot Act as it violates the Constitution

To: Sen. Johnson, Rep. Van Orden, Sen. Baldwin

From: A constituent in Menomonie, WI

November 3

Regarding Repeal of Section 325 of the Patriot Act. I am writing as a concerned citizen to demand the full repeal of Section 325 of the Patriot Act. This provision represents a clear violation of the rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution and stands in direct opposition to the principles of liberty, privacy, and due process that define our republic. Section 325 grants broad powers that have been used to erode individual protections against unwarranted surveillance, unjust data collection, and governmental overreach. Its existence diminishes the Fourth Amendment’s guarantee against unreasonable searches and seizures and has created an atmosphere of fear and suspicion that undermines trust between citizens and their government. The Constitution was written to limit government, not to expand its authority beyond the consent of the governed. By retaining laws like Section 325, we accept ongoing infringements on the very rights that define America’s moral and legal foundation. True national security is rooted in the protection of freedom, not the suspension of it. I urge you to take immediate legislative action to repeal Section 325 of the Patriot Act and restore the balance between security measures and constitutional rights. The American people deserve a government that defends their freedom instead of quietly undermining it. Thank you for your service to this nation and for your attention to this urgent matter.
