The Palisades Fire in Pacific Palisades near Topanga Canyon has burned over 1,260 acres, threatening 6,000 structures and prompting evacuation orders for the area. While prepositioning efforts were made with 65 fire engines and over 120 additional resources, more support is critically needed to contain this fast-moving and dangerous blaze. A request for federal assistance through a Fire Management Assistance Grant has been approved to provide 75% reimbursement for eligible fire suppression costs. However, additional resources must be mobilized swiftly to Topanga Canyon to protect lives and property in this high-risk wildfire area. Prioritizing the allocation of firefighting personnel, air support, and equipment to reinforce the response in Topanga Canyon is imperative for gaining control over the destructive Palisades Fire.
