As your constituent, I urge you to uphold your oath to the Constitution and take a stand against the certification of Donald Trump today. This moment is critical for our democracy, and your decision will have a lasting impact. 1. You are elected to serve the people, and your primary obligation is to uphold your oath of office. 2. Failure to adhere to the self-executing provisions of Section 3 of the 14th Amendment constitutes a violation of that duty. 3. The January 6th Committee’s report, along with multiple legal findings, confirms that Donald J. Trump (DJT) played a leading role in inciting and encouraging the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. 4. Under the 14th Amendment, DJT is constitutionally disqualified from holding office due to his deliberate orchestration of a deadly insurrection aimed at obstructing the peaceful transfer of power. 5. Objecting to DJT’s electoral votes is not a violation of the peaceful transfer of power, but rather an ardent defense of it. 6. Your legacy will forever be tied to your action or inaction on January 6, 2025, and its ensuing effects on democracy. This is not a partisan issue but one of protecting our nation’s democratic foundations. I implore you to act decisively in defense of the Constitution and the principles it represents.
