An Open Letter
To: Rep. Carter
From: A verified voter in Georgetown, TX

The SAVE Act would impose burdensome and discriminatory requirements for voter registration that risk disenfranchising millions of eligible U.S. citizens. Mandating documentary proof of citizenship is an unnecessary barrier that disproportionately impacts marginalized communities, including communities of color, the elderly, low-income individuals, and those with disabilities. These strict requirements create obstacles to exercising the fundamental right to vote, violating principles of equal protection and voting rights. The Act's provisions for removing non-citizens from voter rolls also raise serious due process concerns. I urge you to reject this legislation which threatens to suppress voter participation and undermine faith in our democratic electoral process. We should be expanding access to the ballot box, not erecting unjustified hurdles that could systemically disenfranchise lawful voters. Please defend every citizen's right to have their voice heard and their vote counted.
