I ask you to strongly oppose H.R. 28, which would discriminate against transgender students by denying them the right to participate in athletics based on their gender identity. This cruel and unscientific bill ignores modern understandings of gender and would stigmatize and marginalize transgender youth. All students deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, not subjected to harmful policies rooted in prejudice. Transgender athletes simply want the chance to experience the life-enriching benefits of sports like their peers. This bill serves no legitimate purpose beyond codifying discrimination against a vulnerable minority group. I urge you to stand up for the rights and well-being of your transgender constituents by rejecting this mean-spirited legislation.
