I am writing to express my deep alarm and outrage at the ongoing violence in Gaza and recent statements from former President Trump advocating for the complete takeover of the region. The idea that an entire civilian population could be “leveled” is not just unacceptable—it is a call for genocide. Forcing an entire population out of their homes is ethnic cleansing. It is horrific, inhumane, and an affront to everything we claim to stand for as a nation. Have we learned nothing from our own history? The forced displacement of Native Americans during the Trail of Tears, the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II—these were shameful chapters in our past. If Congress fails to act, we will once again find ourselves complicit in mass suffering and injustice. The consequences of inaction will be devastating. Unimaginable suffering lies ahead unless our leaders take a stand. If we do nothing, the blood of innocent civilians—men, women, and children—will be on our hands. We cannot allow history to repeat itself. I urge you to use your position to stop Donald Trump from taking over Gaza. I ask that you support diplomatic solutions that prioritize human life and dignity. The people of Gaza deserve to live, just as much as anyone else. I am counting on you to take meaningful action. Please, do not let us be remembered as bystanders to yet another atrocity.
