Today I learned that Donald Trump and Elon Musk - a non-elected official - are cutting grants to the NIH that will directly affect, among other things, important federally funded cancer research. My father died of cancer last year. I’ve lost numerous other family members to it. Another dear relative recently went into remission thanks to recent scientific breakthroughs but will live with elevated risk of recurrence her whole life. As a North Carolinian voter, I don’t want cuts to programs that are known to save lives, and I don’t want my tax dollars being diverted from science that could someday save mine. As an elected official, what are YOU, PERSONALLY, going to do to stop this?
