I am writing as a concerned constituent to express my strong opposition to any proposal that would involve sending American citizens to jails in El Salvador. This practice raises serious human rights concerns and undermines our country’s responsibility to ensure due process and humane treatment for its citizens.
El Salvador’s prison system has been widely criticized for overcrowding, harsh conditions, and human rights abuses. Outsourcing incarceration to a foreign country with a history of severe prison conditions is not an acceptable solution to our domestic justice system challenges. Instead, I urge you to support policies that prioritize rehabilitation, address the root causes of crime, and ensure that the United States upholds its own legal and moral standards.
I strongly urge you to oppose any measures that would subject American citizens to incarceration in El Salvador and to advocate for fair and just criminal justice policies within the United States. Please let me know where you stand on this issue and what actions you plan to take to prevent such proposals from moving forward.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response.
