Reject order undermining diversity, equity, inclusion programs

To: Sen. Hassan, Sen. Shaheen, Rep. Pappas

From: A constituent in Center Tuftonboro, NH

February 5

I write to express grave concerns over the recent executive order terminating diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs across the federal government. These initiatives are vital for fostering a representative workforce and promoting equal opportunities for all Americans, regardless of race, gender, or background. The impacts of this order will be far-reaching and detrimental. DEI programs play a crucial role in addressing long-standing systemic inequities and ensuring fair employment practices. Dismantling them undermines our nation's commitment to civil rights and raises troubling ethical questions. Furthermore, diverse and inclusive workplaces have been proven to enhance problem-solving, innovation, and overall organizational performance. Ending DEI efforts is short-sighted and will hamper the government's ability to recruit and retain top talent from all communities. I urge you to reconsider this misguided policy and instead strengthen initiatives that advance equity, representation, and belonging across federal agencies. Our government should lead by example and embody the democratic ideals of justice and opportunity for all. Abandoning DEI programs is a step backwards that hurts America's progress.
