Equal Rights Amendment Now
To: Pres. Biden
From: A verified voter in Culver City, CA
January 3
I’m a constituent from 90232, and member of Indivisible Westside Los Angeles. I’m writing to plead that you enshrine gender equality into our Constitution. I understand this is possible if you instruct the National Archives to publish the Equal Rights Amendment. The ERA cleared the 38-state threshold for ratification in 2020, but due to Republican obstruction, among other things, the National Archivist hasn’t yet formally published and certified the ERA as the 28th Amendment. As President you can put the ERA into the Constitution as required, and I am asking that you do this before leaving office. As I know you understand, the ERA could provide a critical tool for combating discrimination against women, girls and LGBTQ+ people nationwide. PLEASE, President Biden, send the National Archivist an “official notice” that the ERA “has been adopted,” specifying the states that have ratified the amendment.
Thank you for your time and attention.
