Abhorrent CECOT visits requires your resignation

To: Rep. Moore

From: A constituent in Buckhannon, WV

April 16

I am writing to express my outrage and deep disappointment at your recent visit to the maximum-security prison in El Salvador—particularly your decision to pose for a thumbs-up photo in front of a facility that is currently detaining individuals deported from the United States under highly controversial and likely unconstitutional circumstances. Your behavior was not only tone-deaf and inappropriate, but it also demonstrated a callous disregard for human rights, due process, and the very values our country claims to uphold. Among those imprisoned is Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia—a father of three, an American resident with no criminal record, and someone the U.S. Supreme Court has unanimously ruled must be brought home. Instead of advocating for his return, you chose to smile for the camera. Your visit served not the interests of your constituents, but rather those of a cruel and authoritarian immigration agenda that weaponizes deportation for political gain. Your actions have brought shame to West Virginia and further eroded public trust in government leaders. I demand that you apologize publicly to the families affected by these detentions and to the people of West Virginia. Most importantly, I call on you to resign your seat in Congress. We need leaders with compassion, integrity, and respect for the Constitution—not photo ops at foreign prisons. Your behavior is unbecoming of a public servant. Step down.
