Comprehensive immigration reform protecting civil liberties and human rights

To: Sen. Ernst, Sen. Grassley

From: A verified voter in Tiffin, IA

January 9

The Laken Riley Act would expand authority for immigration enforcement within 25 miles of international borders and ports. However, this measure risks violating civil liberties and promoting racial profiling practices. Securing our borders is crucial, but we must find solutions that uphold American values of due process and equal protection under the law for all people, regardless of immigration status. Rather than an indiscriminate expansion of enforcement powers, I urge you to support comprehensive immigration reform that addresses root causes while safeguarding human rights. I urge you to vote No on S.5, the Laken Riley Act.
