The actions of Elon Musk's team at the Office of Personnel Management raise serious concerns about transparency, cybersecurity risks, and a lack of proper oversight. Locking career civil servants out of critical data systems containing sensitive personal information on millions of federal employees is an alarming overreach that threatens the integrity of this vital agency. There must be robust congressional oversight to ensure the protection of government workers' private data and to maintain the nonpartisan, professional nature of the federal workforce. Unilateral moves by unelected individuals to radically reshape the civil service without proper checks and balances undermine principles of good governance. I urge an immediate investigation into these concerning developments and a restoration of secure access and authority to OPM's career personnel. Safeguarding our public institutions from undue external influence is paramount.
