The people who support forced birth have been proven to be a vocal, well funded minority. They purchase media time, they purchase politicians such as Rob Portman and Mike DeWine, and they appear to speak for a significant number of people.
But the nation as a whole? They believe in reproductive freedom when polled directly. They support Roe v Wade. They believe birth control should be available and easily accessed. They believe that the decision to carry a pregnancy to term belongs with the person who is pregnant.
Minority rule is not acceptable in a free society, and forced birth is a policy that stems from a minority. The freedoms of me and mine shall not be infringed by the State because of the desires of a handful. For this, and many other reasons, I am writing a letter a day to end forced birth by writing reproductive freedom into law.
