Day 31 of a Letter a Day to End Forced Birth

In any society where forced birth is the norm, the harm done to children and families is well documented yet immeasurable. The Catholic institutions in Ireland rife with abuse and death. Our private adoption services treating children like commodities. The underfunded and overburdened foster care system. These are presented as "nice" alternatives to keeping a child one was forced to birth. I do not feel that a life stemming from this level of trauma is a desireable outcome. I do not believe the mothers in this situations are unscathed. For this reason and any others, I am writing a letter a day to end forced birth by writing reproductive freedom into law.
