The United States of America is a secular nation. It is not governed by any one religion, and the respect for all religions is enshrined in our Constitution.
State abortion bans pander to the beliefs of a particular Christian sect, and ignore faiths that call for bodily autonomy (such as the Satanic Temple) or that teach the life of a mother is to be prioritized over a fetus (such as in Judaism).
If Roe v Wade is struck down by a Supreme Court because a majority of Justices hold the beliefs of this Christian sect, it allows states to wantonly trample freedom of religion.
For this and many other reasons, I am writing a letter a day until laws are passed preventing the inhumane practice of forced birth on American soil.
