This country has made raising children more and more difficult since the middle of the 20th century.
We have forced people to work more hours, hold more jobs, accept lower pay, and fewer benefits. We have allowed housing costs to rise at an irrational rate. We have allowed daycare to be prohibitively expensive for young children, and we have allowed schools to become increasingly ineffective at education while becoming ever more dangerous.
Until these issues are addressed, it is a very sane decision not to participate in raising a family. For this, and many other reasons, I am writing a letter a day until we end forced birth by writing reproductive freedom into law.
