Because of policy decisions that have led to rampant labor exploitation, the time and energy needed for raising a child often means the decision to give birth implodes one's career (and thru that their ability to even survive).
The way to address this problem is by battling labor laws that allow a woman to be expected back on the job within days of giving birth. It is tackling paid leave to ensure a child can be started on life correctly, without parents facing discrimination. It means normalizing prioritizing one's children without having to accept lost earnings and damaged prospects.
Until pregnancy does not immediately damage one's ability to survive in this economy, the option to prevent or end that pregnancy must be available. For this and many other reasons I am writing a letter a day until we end forced birth by writing reproductive freedom into law.
