Resistbot Petition: Pass the Respect for Marriage Act
An open letter to the U.S. Senate

Pass the Respect for Marriage Act

310 so far! Let’s get to 500 signers!

I’m writing to urge you to support the Respect for Marriage Act when it comes up for a vote in the Senate. The Act has already passed the U.S. House of Representatives with 47 Republican votes, reflecting strong bipartisan support for marriage equality across the country — supported by seven in ten Americans (71%) and majorities of Democrats, Independents and Republicans. Marriage equality must remain the law of the land. Millions of married couples have built their lives around their marriages and the rights and responsibilities that marriage confers. It is critical for Congress to codify the federal protections conferred by the landmark Loving, Windsor, and Obergefell rulings so that no person lives in fear that their marriage could be invalidated by a court.
